Pakistan Paramedical Staff Association, Chandka Medical College Hospital Larkana, boycotted all OPDs on Tuesday since morning including main OPD of Civil Hospital, Eye OPD, Urology OPD, Shaikh Zayed Hospital for Women OPD and Paeds Medicine OPD.

They also held a protest demonstration and chanted slogans for acceptance of their demands. Due to non-availability of working paramedical staff, patients coming from remote areas to get specialized medical treatment for various ailments suffered trouble amid scorching hot as they kept on waiting under the shadow of trees.

All pathological laboratories, radiological x-rays, ultrasounds, telephone exchange, and main store also remained closed for three hours up to 11.00 am.

While talking to reporters, Shahi Khan Jagirani, Zulfiqar Sahto, Ghulam Hussain Langah, and Mustafa Kalhoro said they had been constantly informing the district administration, including commissioner, deputy commissioner, SSP Larkana and others that some employees of CMCH having support of politicians, had formed another parallel paramedics association in the hospital terming it a shadow paramedics association, and forcibly occupied Burns Ward and have established their office but the administration has done nothing to get the center vacated which is still under their occupation, causing hardships for the affected patients as all of them are being shifted to Karachi for treatment.

They said that paramedics’ election was recently held on May 16 in which the employees elected their true representatives by casting their votes in large numbers, adding that the shadow association wanted to create unrest among the employees and damage peace atmosphere in the hospital. They urged the higher authorities to take notice of this highhandedness forthwith and get the occupied Burns Ward vacated.
