Federal govt approves Rs 2 billion for K-4 project

“The federal government, after efforts made by Sindh chief minister, has approved Rs 2 billion for bulk water supply project, K-4, of Karachi. Efforts are being made to provide water indiscriminately and uninterrupted which will improve situation of water scarcity in the city,” said special representative of CM Sindh for local governments while addressing a press briefing at Karachi Water & Sewerage Board head office on Tuesday.

He said the K-Electric would be warned for repeated breakdowns at important pumping stations of KWSB. He said water level had increased in Hub dam after recent spell of rains. While, illegal hydrants and water connections had been removed by KWSB after which it was hoped that the situation of water supply to the citizens would get better.

Jadoon said water was being provided under the supervision of deputy commissioners through 1000 water tankers in the areas where network of KWSB did not exist, while the number of tankers would increase up to 3000 in Ramazan.

He said CM Sindh had taken notice of water crisis in the city. He in a special meeting with prime minister of Pakistan got approval of Rs2b for K-4 project. Apart from this the Sindh government had already allocated Rs 80 million in this regard.

“The Sindh government will warn K-E for carrying out load shedding at water pumping stations and through special measures power breakdown due to technical fault will also be stopped,” he said.
