QUETTA:

Pillion-riding ban on motorbikes was followed by a shutter-down strike in Quetta, against Sunday’s killing of five people in a targetted attack in the provincial capital, local media sources reported.

Balochistan Home Department, in a notification, said that the ban will remain imposed for one week. It said Section 144 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), that prohibits public gatherings, is also being enforced in the city.

According to the notification, the measure has been taken over security concerns.

On Sunday, gunmen killed five people after storming two tea shops belonging to the Hazara community in Quetta’s Meezan Chowk area, authorities claimed.
Police said the attack was sectarian in nature. – Samaa/Agencies
