Chief Minister of Punjab (CM) Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday paid a visit to the newly-inaugurated Metro Bus Service (MBS) and inspected the arrangements to facilitate the commuters.

According to the details, CM Punjab inspected the activities at the metro bus terminals and also travelled from Saddar to Faizabad along with the locals without protocol.

While talking to the media, Shahbaz Sharif announced that the name of the Rawalpindi MBS will be changed to Pakistan MBS, adding that people from all over Pakistan live in the twin cities and use the services. He said that this will promote national unity, love and brotherhood, which was the dream of the father of the nation.

He assured that the transportation and quality of the MBS will not be compromised, and pledged to work for the nation’s relief. He further urged the leadership of all four provinces to come on one platform. He said that no government would be able to withdraw a subsidy being given by the government to the Metro Bus service.

Shahbaz Sharif said that there are still some issues about Metro which would soon be resolved.  He said that clear instructions have been issued that NESPAK would be held responsible if payment was released to any contract without certification of the work. He made it clear that there would be no compromise on quality of the track and bus service.

The CM appreciated the work of Habib construction in the Metro project and described as of the highest standard.

Moreover, he expressed satisfaction over the response of the MBS in Rawalpindi. He also announced the launch of a feeder service from different parts of Rawalpindi so that people could benefit from the MBS.

Shahbaz Sharif said that the Punjab government is going to launch projects worth billions of rupees for which pre-qualification of contractors is going on.  He said that earlier they had no trust on any construction company other than NLC and FWO, but now private companies were carrying out quality work in a transparent manner.

He said that the Punjab government is spending a lot in rural areas which will change the destiny of the people living there.
