A meeting under the chairmanship of Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui reviewed the provision of water to Karachi. The meeting was told that water level in Hub Dam had started rising after rains in its catchments areas in Balochistan.

The water level in Hub Dam has raised from 276 feet to 279 feet. Hopefully, the level would further increase up to 280 feet by the night. After that water would start being supplied from the dam. The more high level of water it would be the more water would be supplied to the city, the meeting was told.

All the deputy commissioners, chief engineers of Karachi Water & Sewerage Board and other officers were also present on the occasion. The meeting decided that the relevant deputy commissioners should resolve the complaints of water provision to the citizens.

The commissioner directed all the deputy commissioners to establish special cell at their offices to resolve the water complaints. “Listen to the complaints and take immediate steps.”

He said tankers should be used in the areas where provision of water through pipelines was difficult. The government was taking all possible measures to improve the situation.

“Provision of water can be made better by improving management. Pumping stations of Dhabeji have been repaired. Illegal hydrant of Ahsanabad has been closed. Other many steps are being taken to improve the situation of water crisis,” he said.
