Punjab Assembly approves women protection bill

The Punjab Assembly’s Standing Committee on Social Welfare and Baitul Maal has approved women protection bill.

According to the bill, women protection officers will be deployed for the safety of females in every district who will be able to issue three types of orders in which demand for protection, monetary and residence orders are included.

On the petition of the harassed victim, a tracking device will be placed in the body of the suspect and he will be banned from going to the woman’s work place.

The bill also stated financial exploitation of women and concealment of salary by men as offence whereas women will be entitled to get a specific amount from the salary of their husbands.

The cabinet handed over the bill to standing committee for reviewing which has now been accepted.
