President Mamnoon addresses joint session: PH

ISLAMABAD:

The joint session of the both Houses of the Parliament (Majlis-e-Shoora) was held in Parliament House at 11.00 a.m. today (Thursday).

President Mamnoon Hussain addressed the joint sitting for the second time to mark the advent of third parliamentary year of the incumbent government of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N).

President’s address to the joint session before the advent of a new parliamentary year, is mandatory under Article 6 of the Constitution.

The joint session is likely to be attended by all Chief Ministers, Governors and Prime Minister Azad Kashmir besides the Chiefs of the three Armed Forces including Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee.

Ambassadors, diplomats and members of civil society will also attend the session.

According to a notification issued here on Friday, the joint session has been summoned by the President in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 54 read with clause (3) of Article 56 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the budget session of the National Assembly has been summoned on Friday (June 5) at 16:30 hours. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar will present the budget for financial year 2015-16.

The Senate session has also been summoned on Friday.
