Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday expressed grief over the deaths of at least 18 people in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) local bodies (LB) polls and remarked that is this the new Pakistan Imran Khan had wanted.
He expressed these views in an introductory speech in the joint parliamentary session.
He said that different incidents which happened during the LB elections claimed lives of at least 18 people. He said that this number of people had never been killed in general elections.
The PM criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and remarked that this is the ‘new Pakistan’ that the opposition party promised. The government is playing with the lives of the people, he added.
He further said that PTI accused Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) of rigging the general elections 2013 and now the party itself was being accused of rigging the LB polls.
