Public mandate stolen during general election in Swabi: Shahram Tarakai

Chairman Awami Jamhoori Ittehad (AJI) Shahram Tarakai  on Tuesday  said that public mandate was stolen during the general election in Swabi.

Addressing a press conference, Shahram Tarakai alleged that the police and the presiding officer were jointly involved in rigging.

He further said that women were taken hostage and deprived of their right to cast vote in favour of concerned candidates.

The AJI chief said that the election in Swabi was hijacked as several were stopped to cast vote and those allowed were asked to vote in favour of certain candidates.

He said that despite protests and pledges of the KP government, the same practice was repeated during local bodies (LB) election in Swabi.

Tarakai blamed that Awami National Party (ANP) was involved in rigging to get desired results.

He warned that AJI would take to streets to record protest against alleged rigging during LB election in Swabi.
