LAHORE:
Zimbabwe cricket team returned to their country in the wee hours of Monday after completing the tour of Pakistan which revived international cricket in Pakistan six years after an attack on Sri Lankan cricket team in 2009.
The team was escorted to the airport amid high beefed up security after the final ODI was played between the two teams at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.
Traffic on all the roads leading to airport were closed as part of stringent security measures put in place for the safety of Zimbabwe team.
Home Minister Punjab Shuja Khanzada saw off the team at airport. He said that revival of international cricket in Pakistan is a huge achievement. He applauded the role of Pakistan Cricket Board and law enforcement agencies for making exceptional arrangements for the series, reportedly.
“The role of police and administration during the whole tour was commendable,” he added.
During the tour, Zimbabwe played two-match T20 series and three match ODI-series, sources claimed.
Pakistan won all the matches except the final ODI which ended in a no result due to rain and dust storm.
