ISLAMABAD:
The government has increased prices of all petroleum products by up to Rs.3.50 per litre for the month of June, according to local media sources.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar announced the price hike, saying that government would provide Rs. 6 billion subsidy on petroleum prices for the month of June.
Addressing newsmen here, Dar said the OGRA in its summary had proposed Rs 6.19 per liter increase in the petrol, Rs 7.91 in high speed diesel, Rs 6.53 in kerosene oil, Rs 13.25 in high octane and Rs 7.62 in light diesel oil prices.
The Prime Minister, however, accorded the approval for raise of only Rs 3.5 in the prices of all petroleum products in order to provide maximum relief to the people, he added.
The Finance Minister said the new prices of the petroleum products applicable from June 1, would be as under: petrol Rs 77.79 per liter, high speed diesel Rs 87.12 per liter, kerosene oil Rs 64.94 per liter, high octane Rs 83.81 per liter and light speed diesel Rs 61.51 per liter.
