ISLAMABAD:
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid Sunday said arrest of Awami National Party leader Mian Iftikhar Hussain was the worst example of political victimization by the PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
The arrest has proven that both the KP police and administration were tools in the hands ofPakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf
(PTI) Chief Imran Khan, he said.
The minister, in a statement, said large-scale mismanagement and widespread irregularities, were committed in the local government (LG) elections held in KP on May 30, having no precedent anywhere.
The PTI ministers had apparently committed ‘criminal’ acts for winning LG election, which were punishable under Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), he said.
Would Imran Khan, who had been levelling baseless allegations against others, ever apologize to the nation over his own misdeeds and ‘crimes’ ?, the minister questioned.
Pervaiz Rashid said the culture of sit-ins and assaults, which Imran Khan had promoted, was practically demonstrated during the LG polls in KP Provinc . There was total lawlessness in the province on polling day, he added.
Had the PTI chief done the politics of serving the public, he would have got positive response from the people, he said.
Imran Khan, he said, had trained his workers in such a way that they now wanted to forcibly grab power and that was quite evident in the polls, where PTI ministers and members of provincial assembly did nothing to avoid bloodshed of innocent people for taking control of ballot boxes, instead of seeking votes.
“The PTI secured just 25 per cent votes in the LG polls, while its opponent parties got 75 per cent,” he said adding that it
reflected the fact that KP people had expressed no-confidence in Imran Khan.
