Punjab CM reviews development progress

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting here today which reviewed priorities of Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2015-16.

Addressing the meeting, the CM said that such schemes should be included in the annual development programme as it could directly benefit the poor and the common person. He said that Development Strategy 2018 is a solid programme to promote economy of the province.

He said that the ADB 2015-16 will usher in a new era of progress and development in the province. He said that the Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme will bring a revolution in the rural economy and every segment of the rural population will benefit from this programme. He said that modern infrastructure plays a key role in the promotion of economic and trade activates. He said that Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme has been initiated for the improvement of infrastructure in rural areas.

He said that Skill Development, Daanish schools, Rural Roads Programme, Saaf Pani Project as well as other projects will bring a positive change in rural life. He said that Saaf Pani project is of vital importance for changing the life in villages.

Shahbaz Sharif said that modern cattle markets are being set up in the province for the benefit of livestock farmers. He said that investment of billions of rupees is being made in solar power projects in rural areas. He said that implementation of energy projects will change the destiny of the people of these areas. He said that a number of energy projects will be completed by the end of 2018, which will remove darkness from the country. The CM said that investment worth billions of rupees by banks in gas-based energy projects reflects their confidence in the policies of the government. He said that a comprehensive plan is being formulated for imparting technical training to 500,000 young adults each year.
