Workers of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Thursday celebrated Youm-e-Takbeer by tearing the cake apart and eating it with both hands.

PML-N had arranged a public gathering for celebrating Youm-e-Takbeer at Aiwan-e-Iqbal where the leaders of the party were to address workers. However, Hamza Shahbaz left soon after cutting the cake, leaving the cake at the mercy of PML-N members, who showed no mercy to it.

In another gathering at Hall Road, another cake met with the same fate at the hands of the ruling party.

Earlier, addressing the party workers, Hamza Shahbaz said that the bold, courageous and timely decisions of the leadership played an important role in making Pakistan a nuclear power.

He said that Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) is committed to making Pakistan a great country. He said that the investment of $46 billion by China would change the destiny of the country. However, he said that unlike the Kala Bagh Dam, the economic corridor would not be allowed to be politicised.

Hamza Shahbaz said that sit-ins wasted six months out of two years of the government but now there is a ray of hope that the promise of eliminating load shedding made by present government will be fulfilled BY 2018. He said that 100-megawatts of electricity are being added through the solar energy project at Bahawalpur. The capacity will increase to 900 megawatt whereas coal-based 1300-megawatt electricity project is under completion. Had Kala Bagh Dam not been politicised there would have 6,000-megawatts of hydel electricity and thousands of acres of irrigated land, he added.

Hamza Shahbaz said that the criticism of PTI on metro is unjustified. He said that 125,000 persons travel daily by air-conditioned metro buses in Lahore whereas after the inauguration in Rawalpindi next week, the metro project is being started in Multan. Similarly, after Lahore-Rawalpindi motorway, Nawaz Sharif has started a 1000 km long motorway project from Lahore to Karachi, which will bring good news of development and prosperity, he added.

Hamza said that Punjab government has started a potable water project at a cost of billions of rupees due to which 325,000,000 people will get clean drinking water by the end of 2017. While strongly criticising PTI, he said that no one was spared by PTI in levelling allegations and hurling abuses during the sit-ins that lasted six months but Nawaz Sharif did not lose patience. He said that the success in cantonment local bodies’ elections and the majority in by-election in Multan is more than the general elections. He said now Imran Khan is admitting that he did nothing except waste time.
