From NAP to NIP

PML-N’s infighting has made it a failure

There is a growing perception in the corridors of power that RAW is working with determination to block the implementation of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and that it is concentrating on Balochistan and Sindh to create trouble. The recent attacks on the Hazara community in Quetta, the acts of sabotage in interior Sindh and attacks on police in Karachi are supposed to be links in a chain. The perception has led to the extension of Zarb-e-Azb to the cities. Balochistan Home Minister has already vowed to undertake indiscriminate action against terrorists in the province. Sindh is supposed to follow suit.

A high level meeting comprising civilian and military leadership has expressed dissatisfaction with the process of the implementation of NAP. While the end of differences between the Prime Minister and Interior Minister is welcome, one wonders if there really is a will to regain the momentum lost soon after the formulation of NAP. The NACTA still remains a paper organisation. There is reportedly no allocation of the required resources in the budget to make NACTA functional. Morbidly scared of a backlash from the religious parties, the PML-N government is unwilling to implement the provisions in the NAP requiring the regulation of the seminaries and their funding. The government has retreated on stopping the proscribed groups from re-emerging as charitable entities or simply under new names. It is ironical that despite the active presence of nurseries of religious extremism, sectarianism and militancy in Punjab, the meeting should have praised it for being ahead of other provinces in implementing NAP.

Ch Nisar, the so-called counter-terrorism czar, has again vowed to end terrorism while addressing the passing out parade of FC at Shabqadar. If haranguing had been enough to rout terrorists there would have been an end to the phenomenon long ago. What is required are concrete steps towards the implementation of NAP instead of empty words. As there is no move in the direction, the NAP is being nicknamed as National Inaction Plan (NIP).

why r u being so sarcastic Mr Editor !!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Our Media remains very innocent. It does not see the obvious. The soft corner for religious groups and Bharat is a well known policy factor of current dispensation. Then why harp on something that was created by themselves. You can’t fool the people now. In fact PML N and its coterie is making fool of themselves by such accusations. How is it that two worst kind of terrorist acts take place in Provinces ruled by the opposition? The aftermath is for all to see! Nobody other than Nawaz and family have business interests in Bharat. Who started the RAW slogan? Why has the defence cum power cum foreign minister named Khawja Asif, suddenly fell in love with eastern neighbor? People are not dumb. I can’t say the same about the rulers in Islamabad.
