KARACHI:

Sindh High Court on Thursday rejected a plea of Pakistan’s software company Axact seeking a compensation of 200 million rupees from PEMRA and FIA, local media sources reported.

A plea was filed in the Sindh High Court by Axact which sought a compensation of 200 million rupees from Pakistan Electronic Media Regulation Authority (PEMRA) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for not stopping television channels from airing defamatory news against the organisation.

Court rejected the plea stating that the case is not admissible as Axact did not lodge a complaint with PEMRA regarding the matter. It also said that according to rule number 26 of PEMRA, Axact could have filed a complaint against the channels.
