KARACHI:

Axact CEO Shoaib Ahmad Shaikh was taken into custody in the early hours of Wednesday from his office.

In the presence of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) as well as the police, Shaikh was taken away, according to sources.

Shaikh and other directors involved in the fake degree scam will be produced before a banking court, reportedly.

Shaikh had earlier requested that the Sindh High Court grant him protective bail against a ‘potential arrest’ by the FIA. However, his request was dismissed as the bench had failed to find any merit in his application.

The FIA has decided to file a case against Shaikh, according to local media reports.

Shaikh would formally be arrested after the registration of a first information reports (FIR).

The interior minister also assured that the ministry will not bear pressure from any individual regarding investigation of the Axact scandal, authorities had claimed.

  1. What makes anyone think that the degrees awarded by the 'real' colleges and universities in Pakistan are not fake also?
One just needs to talk with a Pakistani graduate for a few minutes and the depth of his ignorance shines through as bright as daylight.
