Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Tuesday that if the federal government ensures that funds for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are timely released, then his party-led provincial government would take further steps to bring development in the province.
Talking to reporters, Khan said that the Centre has given only 20 per cent of the total share of funds to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, which is injustice with the people of the terrorism-stricken province. He said that the PTI-led provincial government would do more for development in the area if the Centre would ensure that all the funds are released as promised.
“I am very satisfied with performance of police in the region,” the PTI chief said while commenting on the combat role of the police force. He added that the police had been working without any political influence, and in the near future, it will further improve its performance.
Criticising the Punjab government for using the police for political purpose, he said that the recent killing of lawyers is a glaring proof of police high-handedness in Punjab. “Peace cannot be restored in Karachi and the rest of the country until the police is de-politicised,” he said.
The PTI chief, while responding to accusations of rival political parties regarding rigging in last general elections, asked them if they have any proofs on any single constituency, then he is ready to open the record.
