  • Says Quran should be understood in Arabic only, calls for discussion on burial of bodies used in medical colleges

Addressing a press conference after the 199th meeting of Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), CII Chairman Muhammad Khan Sheerani on Wednesday said the council has recommended a new amended computerised Nikkah form for facilitating the masses.

Sheerani said letters should be issued to the concerned ministries for setting up new computerised Nikkah form according to the council’s recommendations.

The CII chairman further said courts were dissolving `Nikkah’ on name of `Khula’, which is not correct. He said courts could dissolve marriage contracts but not on the name of `Khula’, as “it is the prerogative of husband”.

Regarding `Quran Asan Tahreek’, Sheerani said the Quran has “specific language” which should be understood properly in Arabic only and such things should not be encouraged.

He further said eunuchs are also part of the society and rather than segregating them, they should be considered “part of the family”. “Their male and female genetic analysis has to be done and accorded status accordingly,” he said.

The CII chairman said the burial of dead bodies used in medical colleges should be discussed according to “moral ethics of national and international code of conduct”. For the purpose, representatives of Pakistan Medical and Dental Association should be called in the next meeting, he added.

Moreover, Samiha Raheel Qazi stated that number of reserved seats for women in National Assembly should be in accordance with the number of votes taken by the party and not on the number of its seats.
