Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid has said that no one has courage to set Pakistan on fire. He said the present government has undertaken transparent decisions and never rewarded anyone.

He was responding to questions by newsmen after attending a conference on inter-faith harmony in Islamabad on Tuesday. He said the PML (N) Government pursued people friendly policies during the last two years and it would do so in future as well.

Replying to a question, Pervaiz Rashid said Punjab is peaceful and not on fire. He said an unfortunate incident took place at Daska yesterday and the Chief Minister immediately announced formation of the Judicial Commission for transparent investigations. He pointed out that the man being accused of involvement in the incident has been arrested and a case registered against him.

The Minister said reduction in oil prices in the international market has not been transferred to the people in many countries including India but Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif gave instructions to pass on the relief to the masses. He said as a result of reduction of prices of POL products, the prices of electricity and items of daily life came down in the country.

The Information Minister said projects launched to generate more electricity, import LNG, develop infrastructure, and run metro bus are all aimed at benefitting people.

Earlier, speaking at the Conference, the Information Minister said it augurs well that people with different religious background gathered under one roof for the sake of peace and harmony.

He said by doing so we have sent a strong message to the outside world about firm commitment of Pakistani nation to stand united in all circumstances.

He said the Metro Bus project in Rawalpindi –Islamabad would benefit a large number of people as there are eight universities and several hospitals along its route.

To another question, the Information Minister said they want to appoint a PEMRA chairman through transparent process and it has the right to go to appeal if any verdict of a court is not in its favour.
