While stating that terrorism should not be associated with any particular religion, Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh lauded Indian Muslims for not allowing fundamentalist groups like Islamic State to influence them.
Addressing the media in Lucknow on Monday, Singh said “Muslims in India are nationalists. They have always opposed such (terror) elements. They have opposed and demoralised them.”
According to Singh, in the past one year, Naxalism has declined by 20 to 25 per cent and that all countries around the globe should fight unitedly against terrorism.
The minister further silenced the opposition and its questions about Modi’s frequent foreign trips by stating that it was a customary practice for leaders to visit other countries, however the ‘warm welcome’ given to Modi reflects upon the country’s goodwill and prestige in the eyes of the host countries.
“The questions being raised over PM’s foreign visits are unfortunate. All PMs including Manmohan Singh have undertaken foreign visits,” he said, adding that “world has started taking India seriously”.
