Supreme Court (SC) has rejected intelligence agency reports in Judges Chambers telephone tapping case declaring it incomplete and has summoned a new detailed report and representatives from intelligence agencies on June 3, 2015.

Justice Mian Saqib Nisar remarked, “As per law no phone can be tapped without the permission of a judge. What was the particular matter that was used to justify bugging the telephones of SC?”

He gave these remarks during the course of hearing of Judges Chambers telephone bugging case on Friday.

Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Sajid Ilyas Bhatti appeared in court and filed a sealed report on the bugging of SC phones on behalf of the IB and ISI.

The law officer said that phones of 5,594 persons were being tapped in the country.

The court remarked, “There may be some objectives behind bugging phones of these persons but why the telephones of SC were tapped? The present report is brief. Give us a detailed report.”

The court while adjourning the hearing of the case until June 3, 2015, summoned the detailed report again from intelligence agencies.
