The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) pilots protest strike has entered third day on Saturday as several domestic and international flights were cancelled owing to this reason.
According to reports, pilots had refused to carry extra duty. The PIA authorities have announced cancellation of a few flights owing to strike of the pilots.
The scheduled cancelled flights were PK-207 Karachi to Dubai, PK-284 Dubai to Peshawar, PK-283 Peshawar to Dubai and PK-284 Dubai to Karachi. Passengers faced great hardships owing to the cancellation of domestic and international flights.
On the other hand, the organisation of Pakistan Airlines Pilots’ Association (PALPA) has stated that the protest will continue till the clearance of out-station allowance and it also discouraged the additional duty. It stated that many pilots worried over non-payment of outstation allowance.
It appears as if PIA is destined to fall off the cliff, no matter what the Prime Minister's Committee on PIA plans or does to contain the downfall. In an organization where the chairman/chief executive becomes the MD and the MD becomes the chief executive by default and where favoritism becomes the order of the day, you can't expect anything better. The whole organization is replete with gross malpractices with no relief in sight. You name the mafia and PIA has it.
The top management is fully engaged in leasing of aircrafts from other airlines on exorbitant rental without commensurating benefits to PIA. More the aircrafts, more the money.
where in the world, there is same boss for regulatory body & the Airline ? CAA & PIA. In terms of ingenuity, Pakistanis stand out first.
