- FAFEN head Rizvi says FAFEN filed a 6,000-page report with enquiry commission
- PTI revises list of witnesses, former Balochistan EC, Printing Corporation secretary to be cross-questioned on Tuesday
Answering Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s counsel Abdul Hafiz Pirzada, Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) head of programs, Mudassar Rizvi, Friday told the judicial commission (JC) probing into alleged vote fraud that he did not receive any threatening call from a government functionary or a political figure, however, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq telephoned him expressing displeasure over FAFEN report in respect of NA-122.
On Shahid Hamid’s query, Rizvi told the JC, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Nasirul Mulk, that Sadiq was not NA speaker when he got the call.
Upon asked if a report was worked out during the electoral process, Rizvi said that FAFEN filed a 6,000-page report with enquiry commission. He said that FAFEN had 40,000 observers, who were appointed in more than 38,000 polling stations.
“The Election Commission had issued cards to them. They monitored the polling process and results. Around 42 reports pertained to pre-poll rigging. FAFEN has handed over its report to enquiry commission,” he said, adding that the authority acquired authenticated copies of Form 14 in respect of 161 constituencies through returning officers (ROs).
“We worked out a report in respect of NA-122 and issued press release with reference to forms 14, 15 and 16. A report containing 960,000 pages was prepared. We contacted ROs for NA-119 but report could not be made available to us,” he added.
In the meanwhile, PTI has filed a list of more witnesses before JC. New revised list include names of 12 witnesses including National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Director Syed Muzaffar Ali, former Printing Corporation secretary Naeem Akhtar, former Balochistan election commissioner, former Election Commission secretary Ishtiaq Ahmad Khan and sitting Election Commission secretary.
The JC has summoned the former and sitting secretary of Election Commission on Monday for further cross-examination. Former Balochistan election commissioner and former Printing Corporation secretary will be cross-questioned on Tuesday, May 26.
The proceedings of the commission were adjourned till Monday.
