Musharraf told to get doctor’s note for court absence

An anti terrorism court (ATC) has granted former president Pervez Musharraf an exemption from attendance in the court for one day on Friday in the Judges Detention case and ordered him to file a medical report in this case.

The judges’ detention case came up for hearing on Friday before Judge Sohail Ikram of the ATC. Counsel for former president told the court that Pervez Musharraf could not appear due to his ailment. ATC Quetta has also granted exemption to him in this respect. Therefore, witnesses should be summoned and the case should be moved forward.

Public Prosecutor Naeem Tabish while opposing the request said that Pervez Musharraf is not taking the case seriously and is not appearing in the court since the last year and a half.

“How can the witnesses be summoned in the absence of Pervez Musharraf?” he asked.

The court granted Pervez Musharraf an exemption for one day, and ordered him to file a medical report and adjourned the hearing of the case until June 5, 2015.
