- Crackdown against insurgency in Balochistan leaves 29 dead, 1,350 kg explosive material seized
Addressing a press conference in Quetta on Friday, FC Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Brig Tahir and Balochistan Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti said that at least 29 militants were killed in a province-wide operation led by Frontier Constabulary (FC) against insurgency and terrorism in Balochistan.
Giving details, the officials said that FC operations in Mastung and Kalat districts of Balochistan left 20 militants dead and several injured while hideouts of terrorists were also destroyed. Four FC personnel were also wounded.
Six more militants were arrested in a crackdown against Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) in Mushkay area of Quetta, they said, adding that the operation was also conducted in Zhob, Loralai and Ziarat districts where eight terrorists were killed including two suicide bombers.
The FC DIG said that 1,350 kilogrammes of explosive material was seized in Qilla Abdullah during the operation. “Five hideouts of militants were destroyed in the operations,” Brig Tahir said, adding that 12 suicide vests, six RPG-7 rifles, 40 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), chemical drums, 12 explosive tunnels and six bombs were also seized in the operations.
The Balochistan home minister said that the government will restore law and order in the province at all costs. He said the operations against terrorists are going on as per National Action Plan. He asked terrorists to surrender before the law or be ready to face the music.
