Modern facilities being provided to industrialists, PA informed

Punjab Minister for Commerce, Industry and Investment Muhammad Shafique said on Thursday that state-of-the-art facilities were being provided to industrialists at Bahawalpur Industrial Estate.

During question hour in the Punjab Assembly, he informed the House that facilities at Bahawalpur Industrial Estate were being provided at par with the Sundar Industrial Estate, adding that a survey for setting up modern industrial estate in Rajanpur was also under process.

Taking part in the discussion, Jamaat-e-Islami MPA Dr Waseem Akhtar suggested that special attention should be focused on the export and the quality packing of rice, which was endorsed by the minister. Punjab Home Minister Col (r) Shuja Khanzada answered the questions raised in the call attention notices.

Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Mehmood Ur Rasheed raised the matter of the findings of the Joint Investigation Team report on the Model Town incident. Punjab Government spokesman Zaeem Qadri told the House about the findings of JIT report, but the opposition walked out for few minutes to show its dissatisfaction.

During the period for government business, four bills were tabled in the house, of them, only i.e. “The Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission Bill 2015” was passed without any amendments.

Punjab Law Minister Mujtaba Shuja Ur Rehman moved the bill in the House as recommended by the standing committee on Services and General Administration (S&GAD).

The discussion on the “Fatima Jinnah Medical University Lahore Bill-2015” was underway when a parliamentarian from the opposition bench pointed out a short quorum. However, the session was adjourned until Friday morning.
