Sharif in Bishkek, Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan sign two agreements

Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan signed two agreements on Thursday after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in Bishkek following his two-day official visit to Turkmenistan.

The agreements signed were related to cooperation in disaster management and anti-narcotics. The signing ceremony was witnessed by PM Sharif and his Kyrgyz counterpart Sariyev Temir.

During the meeting between the two premiers, Sharif appreciated the political maturity displayed by the people of Kyrgyzstan pertaining to democratic norms and culture. He said that both countries have common cultures, history and a desire for stable and peaceful region.

During the delegation-level talks between Sharif and his Kyrgyz counterpart Sariyev Temir, the two sides discussed methods of increasing cooperation in various fields such as trade, economy and energy.

PM Sharif also held a meeting with Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambaev. The premier appreciated President Atambaev’s leadership under which the country has seen remarkable development since independence.

Sharif said that both countries must ensure that their special ties are transformed into a strategic partnership encompassing all areas of bilateral relations. He added that the existing trade volume is not equivalent to the actual potential that exists and both countries should world towards increasing it.
