The Sindh food department has reduced the quota of wheat bags from 35,000 to 25,000 in Naundero which have not yet been properly distributed among deserving growers.

The tillers Wahid Bux Jakhro, Riaz Abro, Pervaiz Abro, Muhammad Ali Baloch and others complained told media on Tuesday that Assistant Commissioner Ratodero issued them tokens on April 24 to get the wheat bags from Naundero center but when they reached the center they found it locked.

They said they were told on inquiry that Food Inspector Manthar Noonari had disappeared after disposing of all received bags. These growers alleged that so many tokens were issued on fake names and those peasants, who could not get the bags, returned their tokens back and their names were also shown as having received the wheat bags which is injustice and against the established policy of the government.

They further said that they informed about this highhandedness to the district food controller and AC Ratodero through SMS service but in vain. They further alleged that government bags were being openly sold in the market here which shows the negligence of the concerned officers for which they should be taken to task because they have deprived the poor populace of their right.

Food Inspector Manthar Noonari told journalists on phone that wheat bags quota of 25,000 has been totally consumed on April 22 so he had no further bags to distribute among the deserving farmers.

Ratodero AC Suhail Soomro said he was on an official visit and added he did not carry all the time record of wheat bags distribution with him to inform the journalists “who got how many bags”.

It is crystal clear that something is wrong which should be thoroughly probed as the AC Ratodero kept on issuing tokens for bags up to April 24 whereas the food inspector claimed that whole bags stock was exhausted on April 22.
