I intend to draw the attention of the concerned authorities through the column of your revered paper towards jettisoning one of the world’s most devastating diseases: polio. Polio is a devastating disease but fortunately global efforts to eradicate polio have been successful. Polio infection among children has dropped more than 99 per cent since 1980s. But what is worrisome is that Pakistan is one of the three high risk countries where children are more vulnerable to polio virus because of ‘Talibanisation’ in some areas where health organisations do not have access for immunisation.
So, I appeal to the authorities is to take such action and provide security to our polio teams to do their job in eliminating polio from the planet.
