Other CMs never resigned, why should Shah? Memon

The members of the opposition on Friday strongly criticised Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah for being absent from the House expressing their disappointment as to who would answer for the home department when the House was discussing very important issue of Safoora Chowrangi bus firing attack.

Debating on the joint resolution, Khawaja Izharul Hassan of the MQM said Syed Qaim Ali Shah was not only holding the portfolio of home department, but was also ‘captain’ of the Karachi operation. He said as a member of the Sindh assembly, it was his right to ask why the chief minister opted to remain absent from today’s crucial sitting. He said they were cooperating with the government but the government was not giving befitting response. He warned if the provincial government of Sindh did not mend its way the opposition would block passing of the coming annual budget.

Parliamentary leader of PML-F Nand Kumar said the Sindh government was not serious towards the issues of masses. He said when the House was discussing the attack on innocent Ismaili community people, the absence of chief minister from the House was a proof of this non-seriousness.  He said the failed policies of the Sindh government were before them. Some 80 percent population of Sindh was living below the poverty line, he said, adding he asked the rulers to have a mercy on the people of Sindh and end their VIP culture. He said the responsibility of the rulers was to provide security to the masses and not to indulge in even more corruption.

Zubair Ahmed Khan of the MQM said not a single district of Sindh was safe from the terrorists. He said there was lack of proper facilities in their police stations, but the government was not ready to adopt a serious attitude to resolve them.

Nusrat Bano Seher Abbassi of the PML-F said Safoora tragedy like incidents had become a routine matter. She said the provincial government had failed in providing security to the security. She said the chief minister should have a moral courage to tender his resignation. She said the state had failed to discharge its responsibilities.

However, ministers including Nisar Ahmed Khuhro and Sharjeel Memon defended the chief minister. They said resignation was not a solution to any issue. They said the chief ministers of other provinces had also not tendered resignations when major terrorist activities took place in their provinces, so the demand of the resignation of Qaim Ali Shah was not a just demand. They said the Sindh police under the leadership of Qaim Ali Shah had delivered and arrested many terrorists and criminals.
