  • Sharif grills Sindh govt for inefficient implementation of NAP in provinces, directs LEAs to ensure peace in Karachi

Chairing a high-level meeting attended by key political and military leaders at Sindh Governor’s House in Karachi on Wednesday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif lamented inefficient implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) and particularly criticised the Sindh Home Department in the backdrop of attack on Ismailis in Karachi earlier during the day.

PM Sharif arrived in Karachi on a crucial trip to review critical aspects of the attack, including the possibility of involvement of foreign elements.

Apparently saddened over the massacre, the premier termed the attack an attempt to divide the country. He said Ismailis were “patriotic and peaceful people who have always worked for the well being of Pakistan”.

Addressing the meeting, attended by Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) DG Rizwan Akhtar, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, PPP Co-chairman Asif Zardari and MQM’s Farooq Sattar among others, PM Sharif directed the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) to immediately arrest the culprits behind the attack.

The premier ordered LEAs to work in complete coordination with each other to ensure peace in Karachi. He said all institutions responsible for countering terrorism should gear up to meet challenges.

“Karachi is the commercial hub of Pakistan. Any incident that happens here holds great importance. The enemies are not happy with our economic growth. It’s on their agenda to stop development and progress in the country. Therefore, it becomes very important to identify and act against such forces,” he added.

Briefing on the occasion, the Rangers director general (DG) said that there could be several motives behind the attack on the Ismaili community. He said that the theory of foreign involvement cannot be ruled out.

Earlier on Wednesday, COAS Gen Sharif arrived in Karachi after cancelling his visit to Sri Lanka.

  1. The premier needs to stop spending 40 billion on some stupid trophy metrolink and give sindh and other provinces funding to finance NAP. 50 billion is the pricetag for national security and the full NAP plan approved by NA. WHERES THE MONEY MIAN MAWAZ?
