Malala fund to help poor kids in AJK

MUZAFFARABAD:

The International Fund established by a renowned Pakistani girl Malala Yousafzai, for raising girls literacy and education in Pakistan, has decided to finance education expenses of poor children in Azad Kashmir as well, said UNESCO representative.

Viki Jonson, Director of UNESCO Malala Fund along with representative of the Fund, Zaffar Hayyat Malak and Waqar Shams called on Secretary Education (Schools) Azad Kashmir Raja Muhammad Abbas and informed him about the decision.

Jonson told Abbas that Malala Fund will bear expenses of all reading material (books and note books) of deserving children besides providing them a monthly stipend of Rs 500 per month to each student in the backward and under developed areas of Azad Kashmir.

Raja Abbas while expressing his gratitude assured the delegation of his full support in this regard and hoped that the initiative would prove a milestone for raising girl literacy in the area.

He also assured his full cooperation and coordination with the fund to achieve the goal.
