Sindh Assembly starts pre-budget discussion

The Sindh Assembly Tuesday started pre-budget discussion in which different lawmakers highlighted problems of their constituencies and requested to add them in projects of the coming budget.

The speakers were dismayed over poor spending of the released budgetary funds on development schemes. They said it was injustice that the government of Sindh was even not ready to spend the released funds for the welfare of citizens. They said the rulers of Punjab were sincere with Lahore, but the rulers of Sindh were not serious to develop their capital city of Karachi. They said Lahore was at least 25 years ahead of Karachi and many other cities of Punjab were getting Metro Bus projects. They also expressed concern over rampant corruption and injustice with masses. They said condition of roads, irrigation and health in interior Sindh was pathetically poor, while the Karachiites faced acute shortage of drinking water.

Some 12 speakers, six belonging to the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM), five to the Pakistan Peoples’ Party Parliamentarian (PPPP) and one to the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) spoke on the occasion. Later, the House was adjourned till Friday, May 15, 2015.
