SC moves against ‘illegal’ grid station in park

The Supreme Court (SC) has sought a reply from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) planning division chair over the construction of grid station in F-9 Park by the second week of June.

Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has remarked, “We will not become hostages to the planning division. We will not allow any illegal or unconstitutional work to be done. Why is the grid station is being built on a recreational spot rather than some other place. We have already shortage of recreational points. Why are the few that exist being marred?”

He gave these remarks while presiding over a three-member bench of the SC during the hearing of the petition filed by Anwar Butt against the construction of a grid station in F-9 Park Tuesday.

The petitioner told the court that the grid station was being constructed illegally in F-9 Park. It won’t just cause harm to the citizens but it is also an illegal activity. This project has no map. The planning division is bent upon constructing a grid station in F-9 Park.

CDA counsel Hafiz S A Rehman said that the court should give them time to give a reply. The CDA chair wants to talk to the planning division.

The court while adjourning the hearing of the case until the second week of June has sought a reply from planning division and the CDA chair.
