In an important meeting headed by Sahabzada Abul Khair Zubair at Idara-e-Noor Haq in Karachi on Monday, Milli Yagjehti Council (MYC) has decided to stage a countrywide protest demonstration on Friday against Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid’s statement allegedly disgracing the ‘integrity of seminaries’.

During the meeting, MYC President Zubair condemned the minister terming seminaries “centres of illiteracy”, saying that such types of statements were “an attempt to damage national integrity and Operation Zarb-e-Azb”. He demanded government clarifies its position on the statement.

Further, he claimed that the Islamic history was being eliminated from education curriculum through a “planned conspiracy”.

On the occasion, the MYC leaders also discussed internal and external situation of the country and publication of sacrilegious caricatures.

MYC Secretary Liaquat Baloch told the meeting that anti-state elements were trying to sabotage consensus on National Action Plan which the political parties had reached after Peshawar school tragedy. He also urged prime minister to take notice of minister’s statement to ensure “religious harmony”.
