ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Information Secretary Qamar Zaman Kaira stepped orward on Sunday to defend the party’s co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari against recent allegations of corruption being charged by Zulfiqar Mirza, former home minister of Sindh, according to local media sources.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Kaira termed Mirza’s allegations ‘baseless’. He challenged Mirza to provide evidence against Zardari to the National Accountability Bureau instead of his media trial, authorities reported.
Mirza has been charging serious allegations against Zardari for several months, but it is for the first time that PPP’s IS has responded to them, according to sources.
