Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday paid an emergency visit to the Metro Bus terminal in Rawalpindi to review the ongoing implementation of the project, and directed the administration to complete the project as early as possible.

Rawalpindi Commissioner Zahid Saeed briefed the CM regarding the progress of the Metro Bus construction and said that the project faced delays due to the sit-ins orchestrated by Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri.

He further told Shahbaz Sharif that CCTV cameras have also been installed at as many as 24 Metro Bus stations.

The chief minister also went to different stations of the Metro Bus Service on board a metro bus.

While talking to media, Punjab CM assured that the Metro Bus Service in Rawalpindi will start soon and lauded the efforts of engineers and labourers. He said the poor will get better travelling facilities with the completion of the Metro Bus Project.

Before the chief minister’s visit, additional staff was deployed all along the Metro Bus route to clean the surrounding areas.

People of the twin cities had been demanding Shahbaz Sharif to pay frequent visits to the project site to ensure its early completion.
