Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani has urged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and chief ministers of all four provinces to make constitutional history of Pakistan a compulsory subject for the students.
In separate letters written to the prime minister and four chief ministers, Rabbani said steps may be taken for incorporation of the constitutional history of Pakistan in the curriculum of all federal and provincial educational institutions up to the intermediate level.
He said the decision was taken in light of the discussion during the Senate sitting on April 13, 2015 in which parliamentary leaders and members agreed to make constitutional history a compulsory subject.
The Senate of Pakistan observed April 10, 2015 as Constitution Day to commemorate passage of the constitution in 1973.
