Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources recently wrote an article in a local newspapers titled “LNG – The whole truth”. This article and the openness displayed by the Minister is like a breath of fresh air in the stale Pakistani government. I really wish that the current government would also be this open and straightforward about the construction and route of the Pak-China Economic Corridor, to help ease the mistrust among the locals.

Regarding the Minister of Petroleum’s article, he has mentioned a number of facts and details but unfortunately he has left out a few important questions that is on everyone’s mind. I am hoping that he would also reply to the below questions for more clarity.

1) With the current contract between PSO, Engro, SNGPL and SSGPL, what will be the end price of RLNG for users?

2) Why is PSO given marketing percentage, when there is no marketing required for RLNG?

3) What percentage or rate was given to PSO as marketing percentage?

4) What percentage or rate was given to SNGPL for use of their pipe network?

5) What percentage or rate was given to SSGPL for use of their pipe network and for administration charge?

6) If current RLNG will be supplied to power sector, with all margins and profits of PSO, SNGPL and SSGPL, would that mean the price of electricity will be increased? What will be the price per unit of electricity with RLNG?

7) Please also inform everyone about the incident as reported in the media where SNGPL and SSGPL CEOs were held in Islamabad office and forced to sign a contract with PSO.
