Your kidneys, liver are safe now: CM Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that a state-of-the-art Pakistan Kidney & Liver Institute and Research Centre is being set up in the provincial metropolis.

He said that this project in the Knowledge Park would be a glorious addition to the public health facility. He said that the completion of the institute and research centre would result in availability of the latest treatment facilities to kidney and liver patients under one-roof.

The CM said that Pakistan Kidney & Liver Institute and Research Centre would be a unique project in the country and a milestone in the public health sector. He said that free treatment facilities would be provided to poor and destitute patients in the institute. He said that this project is of vital importance will have to be completed speedily with national spirit and hard work.

He was presiding over a high-level meeting, which reviewed in detail the project of Pakistan Kidney & Liver Institute and Research Centre. Board of Governors of Pakistan Kidney & Liver Institute and Research Centre, President Dr. Saeed Akhtar, gave a briefing on the project while representative of international company informed about the initial design.

Addressing the meeting, the CM said that the improvement of health sector and provision of modern treatment facilities to the masses is the top priority of the government and development projects worth billion of rupees are being completed speedily in the health sector for the provision of better healthcare facilities to the citizens. He said that reforms of a revolutionary nature are being introduced in the health sector for its development and provision of modern treatment facilities to the people. He said that an effective strategy has been adopted for ensuring availability of doctors and medicines in the hospitals.

Shehbaz Sharif said that the practical measures taken for the development of health facilities are yielding positive results. He said that establishment of Pakistan Kidney & Liver Institute and Research Centre is a step in this direction. He said that autonomous board of governors has been set up for looking after the administrative affairs of the institute. He said that Pakistan Kidney & Liver Institute and Research Centre will be made a state-of-the-art institution of south Asia and the latest medical facilities of international standard will be available to the patients.

The Chief Minister said that a research centre would also be established in the institute. He directed that austerity should be maintained in the construction work. He said that national resources are the trust of the masses and should be utilised properly. He said that the provincial steering committee should adopt measures expeditiously for the implementation of the project. Shehbaz Sharif directed that all concerned institutions should provide maximum cooperation to Pakistan Kidney & Liver Institute and Research Centre. He said that no effort should be spared for the completion of this project within the fixed timeline. He said that the provincial steering committee should hold regular meetings regarding the project. The CM also constituted a committee for the purchase of medical equipment for the project.
