Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) administration has postponed over 50 scheduled operations due to the disconnection of gas supply over non-payment on Saturday.
An administrative official of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) run AbbasiShaheedHospital confirmed that over 50 surgical operations were postponed in the hospital over suspension of gas supply. He said sterilization of medical instruments is also halted in the healthcare.
The patient-care in KMC largest healthcare was badly affected and the miseries of patients further increased who have been waiting for their surgical procedures since long.
Sources said KMC Finance Department could not pay gas dues of the hospital of last three months due to financial crisis and SSGC disconnected its gas supply.
They said operations in emergency and Operation Theater Department will also be remained suspend on Sunday and administration is in contact with the KMC for early restoration of gas supply to hospital. Senior Director Health & Medical Services Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Dr Salma Kausar Ali was not available for comments.
