KSE-100 shares loses 199.66 points amid lackluster trade

The benchmark KSE-100 shares index fell and shed 199.6 points to close at 33530 points.

KSE-30 shares index lost 131.40 points to end at 21579 points. The KSE all shares fell from 23588.90 points and closed at 23541.55 points. Owing to lackluster trading, overall market capitalization declined from 7.35 trillion to 7.32 trillion.

Karachi stocks week opened at depressing note. Index crossed the psychological barrier of 34,000 points on first day of the week.

As per weekly report, stock market remained under recessionary pressure in four out of five days during the week. The index declined by 505.3 points. But the market recovered 306 points due to swift transaction in the market. Experts say the investors are uncertain over tax policy to be pursued on the occasion of upcoming budget. Owing to fall in the prices of crude oil in international market, the interest of the investors in petroleum sector has also dipped.
