Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s speech on the 2013 General Election’s day, prior to the completion of electoral process, was a violation of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) rules.
Talking to reporters outside the Supreme Court building after Judicial Commission’s meeting, the PTI chairman questioned as to why 200 people were brought from Lahore for printing of ballot papers in Rawalpindi.
Khan said provincial election commissioner’s statements had put a question mark on either his or ECP’s honesty. “One is saying that there were telephonic instructions on 9th for printing of additional ballot papers while the other is saying that it was 7th,” he said, adding that Punjab Election Commission was unaware as to where the ballot papers being sent.
The PTI chief said additional ballot papers were sent to the returning officers while the Election Commission is not aware that additional ballot papers were printed.
