93,582 votes in NA-122 unverified, says NADRA report

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) submitted NA-122 forensic report on Saturday in the election tribunal after verification of thumbprints on the votes.

The forensic report was handed over to lawyers of the parties by the election tribunal after which the NADRA director general has been summoned on May 16 to record his statement.

Tribunal Judge Kazim Malik had sent the record of 284 polling stations of NA-122 for verification to NADRA. A report comprising 781 pages was submitted in the tribunal after two months investigation.

According to NADRA report, a total of 1,84,151 votes were to be examined in which 73,478 votes were verified through thumbprints whereas 93,582 remain unverified.

The report states that identity card numbers on 6,123 ballot papers turned out to be invalid while ID card numbers were not listed on 370 counterfoils.

Besides this the ID card numbers of 255 voters were written twice on counterfoils whereas 1,715 were such votes which do not have thumbprints on counterfoils. It was also found that 570 votes cast were not registered in NA-122 constituency.

Furthermore, the report also reveals that 136,000 votes remained unverified through electoral roll.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N’s) Sardar Ayaz Sadiq gained victory from the constituency by getting 93,379 votes whereas Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) chairman Imran bagged 84,517 votes and scored second position.
