The Punjab government has directed all contractors working on different packages of the Metro Bus Project to complete work by May 9.

The new deadline may compromise the quality of work on the multi-billion project, connecting the twin cities.

Work on none of the stations on the 23-kilometre long track could be completed and testing of their being earthquake-resilient, spadework on tracks and drainage is yet to be conducted.

The claim of completion of work from Saddar to Marrir Chowk remain a big question mark, since manholes are yet to be covered and work on drainage system from Marrir Chowk to Liaquat Bagh has also been only partially completed.

Rawalpindi Development Authority Director when contacted said that the quality work would not be compromised and further said that as directed by the provincial government the deadline will be met at any cost.
