A two-member Supreme Court (SC) bench, presided over by Justice Ejaz Chaudhry, has given 30 days to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for reaching a decision on the stay order and other matters related to the high treason case against former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf.

Taking up a petition filed by Tausif Asif advocate on Thursday, the court ruled that IHC should dispose of the case within 30 days so that a Special Court hearing of the high treason case could finalise its proceedings.

During the hearing, Asif pleaded that Musharraf abrogated the Constitution, detained judges and took anti-constitutional steps. IHC has issued a stay order in Musharraf’s case, suspending the proceeding of the special court, he added. He requested the court to order IHC to decide the case as soon as possible.
