Govt considering ban on live speeches of Altaf Hussain

Islamabad, Pakistan:

The government of Pakistan is considering to ban the live broadcasts of Altaf Hussain’s speeches in the wake of his hateful addresses against Pakistan, following the April 30th episode, reported local media sources.

According to sources in Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), a strong reaction of the Pakistan Army against remarks of Altaf Hussain will be considered and PEMRA will ban live broadcasting of his speeches.

PEMRA sources stated that there is no provision to accept any hateful speeches agains the state and its important institutions including the Pakistan army and judiciary, and that Pakistani media was playing a game of ‘free for all’ and did not listen to PEMRA.

DG ISPR was of the view that using media to incite the people of Pakistan to rise against the State would be pursued legally, according to a local media outlet.

PEMRA sources also indicated that broadcasting of live press conferences of any such political and religious parties those are allegedly involved in terrorism and criminal activities would also be banned on electronic media.

“PEMRA is considering getting fresh undertaking from media houses over this issue of such sensitive matters and media shall not be allowed to play recklessly”, claim sources.
