Water/sewerages charges of DHA

It has been observed that a 364 per cent increase was levied in the water/sewerage charges of houses in DHA, Lahore Cantt area. Whereas ten years ago the water/sewerage bill of my house for the period of July to September 2005 was Rs1,020, the charges have surged to Rs4,735 for the period January to March 2015 thus increasing by Rs3,715 which is a tremendous increase of 364 per cent. Whereas the DHA is occupied by mostly govt servants serving or retired whose pay and pension increases about 10 per cent each year. So in all a 150 per cent increase could be expected in past 10 years but a 364 per cent increase is too much for its residents.

It reflects either poor management of DHA or an attempt at fleecing the residents. There ought to be some semblance of an increase in pay and pension with the sky rocketing increase in the water/sewerage charges which needs to be looked into by the authorities of DHA to provide some relief to its residents to make their lives a bit easier.
