LOWER DIR:
The by-elections for Lower Dir-II constituency of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Assembly are underway, according to local media sources.
Jamaat e Islami (JI) fielded its Lower Dir chief Izazul Mulk Afkari for the polls when it got vacated by party chief Siraj ul Haq.
At least 85 polling stations were set up in the constituency and around 140,743 voters are registered, according to sources.
In order to avoid any untoward incident, tight security arrangements were made since the polling began at 8am. The elections are expected to end at 5pm, according to local media authorities.
